Hatswell is hoping for a Cup run

Wayne Hatswell

Cambridge United defender Wayne Hatswell has called for a repeat of last season's FA Cup run ahead of the U's match at Boston United.

Cambridge made it to the third round last season, and Hatswell hopes Saturday's match will not throw up any upsets as they look to repeat the feat.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "The FA Cup is a great leveller."

"I'll be doing my best to make sure we're not one those shocks, and we're in the first-round draw on Monday."

The U's were beaten 2-1 by Wolverhampton in last year's third round.

Hatswell admitted the cup match at Boston would be a welcome break from Blue Square Premier action.

"Everyone knows what the FA Cup is about, and the windfalls at the end of certain rounds can be massive for a club and can make a whole season," he said.

"If we can get to the third round that would be great, and from there you never know what might happen."

The 33-year-old hopes a run will also create excitement in Cambridge, and encourage more fans to the Abbey Stadium.

He said: "We need to start by winning at a tricky place on Saturday, then hopefully we can get a couple of home draws.

"Then we can get the place sold out and the atmosphere buzzing around Cambridge."
