Walker agrees to sign for Burton

Richard Walker

Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido has made Bristol Rovers striker Richard Walker his third signing since taking over in May.

Walker, 31, had already agreed a move to the Pirelli Stadium and put pen to paper on Wednesday when his contract with the Pirates expired.

Peschisolido said: "I'm delighted to get a player of Richard's experience.

"He has got an excellent goalscoring record and played at a much higher level and he is a really nice lad."

Walker was a Rovers player for nearly five years, scoring 62 goals in 176 games.

" I'm slightly worried we only seem to be after players out of contract...if they are out of contract then their current clubs don't want them for a reason "

But he spent last season on loan with League Two rivals Shrewsbury Town and was not offered a new contract by the League One side.

Peschisolido is delighted to be able to bring him to Burton: "Richard will undoubtedly add to what we have already got and he will definitely improve us.

"It is not easy to get a player of his calibre to sign but we have managed to do it and that makes it all the more pleasing."

Birmingham City forward Robin Shroot will also complete the paperwork on his season-long loan deal after agreeing to join last month.

And the Brewers have also signed former Derby County defender Paul Boertien.
