Clough hurting after semi defeat
Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough rued his side's bad luck after seeing their Wembley play-off final dreams ended by Cambridge at the semi-final stage.
Two controversial decisions helped the U's fight back from 2-0 down to draw the first leg 2-2.
And Clough felt his side never quite recovered from that disappointment.
"We played very well but nothing went for us over the two games and we couldn't have done any more," he told BBC Radio Derby after the 2-1 loss.
"The anger and the injustice of it all won't go away.
"We might never get this close to Wembley and getting to the play-off final again so to have it taken away in the manner we did is going to be very difficult to take for a long time.
"We had a disastrous start but for the rest of the first half we were very good and probably deserved to get the lead going into half-time."
But Clough paid tribute to his team's resilience: "For a part-time side the run we've had this season has been quite remarkable.
"We are immensely proud of the season, it's our first experience of the play-offs and we hope we can come back nice and refreshed and have another crack at it next year.
"With the limitations we have it's been a superb season."
