Burnley recruit Hornets defender
Burnley have signed defender Clarke Carlisle from Championship rivals Watford on a three-year deal.
The Clarets state that they have paid £200,000 for Carlisle, 27, although Watford say the fee is £250,000.
Carlisle made 36 league appearances for the Hornets since joining them from Leeds in the summer of 2005.
"The signing of David Unsworth gave us a boost, but with Wayne Thomas going to Southampton, this is why I have brought Clarke in," boss Steve Cotterill said.
"It's a decent bit of business to sell a player (Thomas) and bring in a player who could be very similar to Wayne."
