Bradford City boss Stuart McCall has said Friday's FA Cup first-round trip to Notts County will be a good chance to assess how far his side have come.
City were hammered 5-0 at Meadow Lane on the opening day of the League Two season and McCall is eager to see an improved display.
"We know we have to do better than we did last time and this will be a good test," McCall told BBC Radio Leeds.
"They are very strong at home, but we are a better team now."
Friday will be the third time the two clubs have met this season, with Bradford winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie on penalties last month.
"We know we are a better team now and want to go and show that"
"I would have preferred to play someone else as we've already met twice," admitted McCall.
"I guess the only positives are that it's not too far a trip and that we know a lot about them, as they do of us.
"But at least we didn't get a long trip away to likes of Gillingham, Yeovil, Bristol Rovers. We didn't want to go that far.
"On Friday night, who knows what will happen. We know we are a better team now and want to go and show that.
"We will go and give it a good go and a real crack."
