Bradford to offer McCall new deal

Stuart McCall

League Two side Bradford City will offer manager Stuart McCall a new and improved contract next week.

The board will sit down with McCall after Saturday's game at Bournemouth.

Bantams joint-chairman Mark Lawn told BBC Radio Leeds: "Bradford City have had enough turmoil and non-stability at this club.

"I think that Stuart has been a stabling influence and he deserves a new contract so we'll be sitting down next week and offering him a contract."

"We talked to Stuart in December time and said that we were going to have a talk in the January period so we'll probably sit down next week - Julian Rhodes [fellow joint-chairman], myself and Stuart - and give him an offer on the table and hopefully he'll accept it and we'll move on with the management team that we've got."

"We'll be looking to make sure that he's happy and we're happy and if both parties are happy then we should be able to put it to bed and move on"
Bradford joint-chairman Mark Lawn

Lawn would not be drawn on the length of the contract they will offer the former Scotland midfielder.

"I can't tell you that but we'll be looking to make sure that he's happy and we're happy and if both parties are happy then we should be able to put it to bed and move on."

McCall was appointed manager at Bradford in May 2007, and after last season's mid-table finish, currently has them third in League Two in his second full season in charge.

He established himself as a cult hero with supporters before high-profile moves to Everton and Rangers.

He returned to Valley Parade in 1998 before moving to Sheffield United in 2002, where he went on to become assistant to Neil Warnock.
