Bolton close in on West

Bolton are in talks with Nigeria defender Taribo West about a move to the Reebok Stadium.

The 28-year-old, who played for Derby County in the 2000/ 2001 season, has been released by German club Kaiserslautern.

"We are in talks with Taribo West's representatives regarding a possible move to the Reebok Stadium," Allardyce said.

"Taribo is quality player with a great deal of experience. He is a player that I would like to have in my squad."

The former Inter Milan central defender played in the two opening group games of the World Cup and has won 40 caps for his country.

Bolton signed West's international team-mate Jay-Jay Okocha from Paris St Germain last month.
