Blackpool eye planning permission

Bloomfield Road Blackpool have applied for planning permission to add extra rows to the existing temporary East Stand at Bloomfield Road.

If approved by Blackpool Council, it would add 972 seats to the visitors' stand.

The application was submitted at the end of January, but chairman Karl Oyston said: "This has been in the pipeline for over three months."

A decision is expected within the next few weeks.

Oyston continued: "If permission is granted it would not affect any proposed future plans to build the South Stand."

"I feel that the plan not to initially construct three sides on the North, South and West will lead to the demise of a club"

He told BBC Radio Lancashire recently: "There are no immediate plans to begin building the South Stand, but construction will start at the earliest opportunity when the club is in a position to secure the finance and rentals required for such a project.

"The club's priority right now is to maintain Championship status this season."

Blackpool fans have been eagerly awaiting confirmation and a start date for the building of the South Stand for over two years and this latest announcement has not gone down well.
