Fahey signs Birmingham contract
St Patrick's Athletic midfielder Keith Fahey has signed a pre-contract agreement with Birmingham City.
The 25-year-old Fahey is due to join Birmingham on 2 January on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
Fahey was born in Dublin and started his career with Arsenal before moving to Aston Villa in 2000.
He played just one Intertoto Cup game for Villa before returning to Ireland to play for Bluebell United, Drogheda United as well as St Patrick's.
After the two clubs had agreed an undisclosed fee for the recently-named Professional Footballers' Association of Ireland Player of the Year, Birmingham boss Alex McLeish told BBC WM: "Keith's a player who's been on the radar for a while.
"Sometimes you watch players from a lower level and you hesitate, but I thought it was a no-brainer to bring Fahey to the club.
"He was a bit homesick when he was in England before, but hopefully this time he's got the hunger to make a real name for himself."
