Dunn tipped for Blackburn return

He has said he would consider a move back to his hometown club and BBC Sport understands Birmingham would place no obstacles in his way if Rovers came in.

Dunn, 26, has been capped once by England but his three years with Blues have been blighted by injury and he has made only 12 appearances this season.

Birmingham paid £5.5m when they signed Dunn from Blackburn in July 2003.

Dunn's situation has echoes of that which led to Robbie Savage leaving St Andrews for Ewood Park last year.

Savage cited family reasons for his move north and Dunn's roots are still planted in the north-west.

But in the three years since Dunn's arrival he has started only 46 league games, with 12 substitute appearances.

Dunn's three years at Birmingham have been plagued by a hamstring injury, which has affected his fitness and limited his availability.

He has been sidelined since limping out of Birmingham's 1-0 win at Derby in October.
