Bayliss urges Barrow to progress

Dave Bayliss

Barrow joint-manager Dave Bayliss has described Saturday's visit of Forest Green Rovers to Holker Street as another "must-win" game for his side.

Bayliss believes his team cannot afford to drop points against those sides around them in the Blue Square Premier.

"They are below us so if we can get a win, it will open the gap between us and the teams near the bottom," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"They are probably in a false position so we know it will be a tough game."

Barrow have suffered just one defeat in their last five games in all competitions and Bayliss said it is a run of form that has lifted the confidence of his squad.

"It changes the mood throughout the camp," he said. "The lads are buzzing and that's what winning games does for you."

"We've just got to keep that confidence up and take it into the next game now."

"It was a bit of a nothing incident but unfortunately the injury was severe"

The Bluebirds will check on the fitness of defender Paul Jones ahead of Saturday's game. Jones has a calf injury but is expected to train this week.

Bayliss has also been quick to play down suggestions that York City will be keen to recall striker Richard Brodie on completion of his one-month loan spell with The Bluebirds.

"We don't know. He's only one game into his loan so we'll cross that bridge when we come to it," he said.

"How will The Bluebirds do against Forest Green this weekend?"

Barrow striker Nick Rogan will see a specialist this week after suffering a broken cheekbone while playing on-loan for Vauxhall Motors in the 3-0 win over Workington Reds.

"It was a bit of a nothing incident but unfortunately the injury was severe," Bayliss said.

"He might be able to play with a protective mask on but he's had one of those ugly masks on for the past 24 years so he'll be used to it."
