Reds boss to gamble on a striker
Barnsley boss Simon Davey says he will have to gamble on a striker unproven at Championship level in January.
Davey told BBC Radio Sheffield: "You don't need to be a rocket scientist to realise the best strikers in the division won't come to us.
"In the division below, everybody is fighting for the likes of Matty Fryatt. So you have to cast your net further.
"Sometimes you have to gamble and I've been lucky with [owner] Patrick [Cryne] because he trusts my gambling."
Barnsley need cover for striker Iain Hume, who is a long-term absentee after suffering a fractured skull during a challenge with Sheffield United's Chris Morgan in November.
