Delaney set for training return
Wales defender Mark Delaney is expected to return to training at Aston Villa next week.
The 31-year-old has not played for the Premiership club since February 2006 because of recurring knee injuries.
He is out of contract in June, but manager Martin O'Neill has promised him the summer to prove his fitness.
"I see light at the end of the tunnel and at the moment the knee feels as good as ever, but I'll only know when I play," Delaney told Villa's website.
"I'm confident at the moment, but as to a new contract I'll see how I react when I start running again."
Delaney has been at Villa for nearly eight years but has become increasingly prone to injury in recent seasons.
