Henry's misery blamed on France

Thierry Henry Arsene Wenger believes French football bosses are to blame for injured striker Thierry Henry's miserable season.

Arsenal boss Wenger said: "I feel Henry has been badly managed by France.

"After the World Cup final I gave him a holiday. France called him up less than 14 days after he came back - and they played him in the whole game.

"It was a friendly, so why did they need to play him in the whole game? And he has played every friendly since, when he was already on his knees."

Henry, 29, will be out for five months after suffering stomach and groin injuries during Arsenal's Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven last week.

That follows a number of spells on the sidelines this season for Arsenal's record goal scorer, who has struggled for both fitness and form.

France coach Raymond Domenech has used Henry in seven international matches this season - including three friendlies - and played him for 90 minutes in all but one of the games.

Wenger hinted that he had already been concerned about the demands being placed on Henry last year.

He added: "It was very difficult to get in touch with the French national team after the World Cup. You know the French!"
