Rangers 3-0 Hibernian

Barry Ferguson celebrates his goal at Ibrox Rangers turned in a fantastic first half display to tear a wretched Hibernian apart at Ibrox.

Striker Dado Prso swept the dominant home side in front after an impressive run from Nacho Novo.

Libor Sionko stabbed in the second goal after good work from Charlie Adam and Barry Ferguson added a clever header as Hibs fell apart before the interval.

Hibs winger Ivan Sproule was sent off in the second half but the visitors were not punished any further.

Rangers manager Paul Le Guen made two changes, with Libor Sionko replacing the injured Kris Boyd and Steven Smith reclaiming the left-back slot from Sasa Papac.

Hibs named an unchanged side for the third week running but failed to find any fluency in the opening stages.

The home side forced a series of early corners and Prso found the net only to be denied by the lineman's flag.

But Rangers' pressure paid off with a goal on 16 minutes when Novo dashed past several opponents before slotting into the path of Prso who swept home from 10 yards.

Novo's six-yard strike crashed off the crossbar as Le Guen's side continued to pour forward.

And Rangers doubled their lead when Sionko was on hand to bundle in Charlie Adam's delivery on the half-hour.

Five minutes later, the Hibs defence was posted missing as Novo robbed Steven Whittaker and set up Adam to cross for the unmarked Ferguson to loop a header over keeper Zbigniew Malkowski.

Chris Killen had a great chance to reduce the deficit before the interval but the striker stabbed a cross from Ivan Sproule wide from close range.

Hibs introduced Michael Stewart and Abdessalam Benjelloun for the second half and enjoyed a lot more of the ball as Rangers eased off.

Malkowski had to punch away a dangerous free kick from Ferguson, while Rangers keeper Allan McGregor had to get down smartly to stop a Steven Fletcher shot.

However, any slim hopes of a revival were dashed when Sproule was ordered off.

The Northern Ireland winger was booked in the first half after an altercation with Ferguson and he was given a second yellow card for throwing the ball away in protest.

Malkoswki had to make a fine save to deny Prso and the keeper recovered in time to prevent Sionko pouncing on the loose ball.

Substitute Filip Sebo saw his shot stopped by Malkoswki and the same player fluffed another good chance with a poor first touch.
