Dundee 1-0 Dunfermline Athletic
Dundee dented Dunfermline Athletic's promotion hopes thanks to Eric Paton's winner from a superb free-kick.
Paton gave Pars goalkeeper Paul Gallacher no chance with his 67th-minute effort to move the home side within four points of the Pars.
Dunfermline made the better start without testing keeper Rab Douglas.
And Dundee could have extended their lead when Colin McMenamin crashed the ball off Gallacher's left-hand post after a low cross from Freddie Daquin.
The defeat leaves Dunfermline five points behind Division One leaders St Johnstone.
