Alloa did very well getting to the promotion play-offs last season considering they are a part-time club.
Playing on their plastic pitch at home will continue to be a big advantage - they only lost once on their home pitch last season.
They have also have brought Jamie Stevenson back from Morton and the midfielder will be a good addition to their squad.
Allan Maitland will be looking for a further push this season and will be hoping to take advantage of Raith Rovers being the only full-time club in the division.
ARBROATH

I watched them against Inverness Caley Thistle in the League Cup and Robbie Raeside will be a big influence for them.
The veteran defender and his older team-mates will need all their experience to keep them clear of relegation as there are a number of good teams in the division.
I think the Red Lichties will find it a tough league to play in.
AYR UNITED

I know Ayr lost last week in the Challenge Cup, but they have the potential to do well this season.
In experienced former Stirling Albion midfielder Chris Aitken, they have made a good signing.
Up front, they have Alex Williams, who will always score goals, and midfielder Ryan Stevenson, who was one of the best players in the division last season.
So they will be looking to push for promotion this time round.
BRECHIN CITY

After a poor start - they took about nine or 10 games before they started to play - Brechin were one of the best teams in the division at the tail end of last season.
They have added former Hamilton striker Gary Twigg, who can be an important player for them this time.
John O'Neill has created a very fit side and I think they will do well again.
EAST FIFE

The Second Division is a difficult one to get out of and, although East Fife won the Division Three title convincingly, they will have to bed themselves in during the early weeks.

However, they obviously have ambitions to get promotion, if only by the play-offs, and have the finances to attract the players necessary.
They have already brought in former Scotland and Dunfermline striker Stevie Crawford and ex-St Johnstone full-back Goran Stanic.
They also have Steven Tweed at the back and these are all players who have played at the highest level.
If they are still in or around the promotion battle at Christmas, they have the ability to go out and strengthen the squad further.
PETERHEAD

My old manager Neale Cooper has been able to attract some good players and we have loaned them Daniel Moore and Craig Gunn, who has started particularly well for them.
If Craig can link up with Martin Bavidge, they will have a potent attack, while the experience of Bobby Mann is important for them at the back.
So I think they will be pushing for a play-off position.
QUEEN'S PARK

Queen's Park were one of the best footballing sides in the division last season.
Gardner Spiers will no doubt have them playing well again at Hampden.
But, as so often happens with the Amateurs, a good season has been followed by the break up of their squad - Stuart Kettlewell, Mark Ferry, Alan Trouten and Paul Paton, who are all good players, will be badly missed.
So I can see them struggling this time round.
RAITH ROVERS

Raith Rovers were up there challenging last season and were unfortunate to miss out via the play-offs.
As the only full-time club remaining in the division, they have an advantage and must have a good chance of the automatic promotion spot.
Steven Hislop has been around for a while and his experience - and goals - could be vital.
STIRLING ALBION

Stirling not only suffered relegation but the exodus of a number of players.
I know that Allan Moore is struggling to get a squad together and only has 14 players at the moment.
They will especially miss Chris Aitken, who performed well last season in Division One.
But Stirling have experience of playing in the Second Division before and that should stand them in good stead.
STRANRAER

These are turbulent times for Stranraer, who are going through a bit of a financial crisis despite winning promotion.
Stranraer always find it difficult to attract players as they are so far in the south of the country and it will be even more difficult now.
So Derek Ferguson will have a tough job keeping them up this season.
