Preston 0-1 Derby
Derby earned a morale-boosting win at Preston in the second round of the Carling Cup.
The visitors came close to taking the lead when the ball broke for Przemyslaw Kazmierczak and his thumping effort from the edge of the box hit the post.
But a spell of Derby pressure was then rewarded with the eventual winner from Paul Green.
A deep cross from Jordan Stewart after 40 minutes picked out the midfielder and he guided a header in off the post.
