Rotherham 1-3 Sheff Wed
Sheffield Wednesday survived an early scare before marching past Rotherham into the Carling Cup second round.
Midfielder Danny Harrison fired Rotherham into a 33rd-minute lead only for Wednesday to level courtesy of Glenn Whelan's diagonal deflected shot.
Early in the second-half Wednesday were ahead when keeper Andy Warrington failed to hold Wade Small's low strike and Deon Burton swept in the rebound.
Minutes later Small's cross into the box flew over over Warrington's head.
