Coleraine winger Stephen Carson is reported to be on the verge of joining Australian club Newcastle United Jets.
Carson, who won his first Northern Ireland cap in June, is currently in Australia for talks with the Jets.
Coleraine have denied reaching an agreement with the A-League club and say they would be entitled to compensation if Carson moved.
It is believed 28-year-old Carson was approached by Newcastle after making his international debut against Italy.
"We do not want to lose Stephen because he is one of our best players," said Coleraine chairman Hugh Wade.
"We let him go on trial. If he wants to better himself, we would not stand in his way.
"But Coleraine would need to be compensated."
