Coleraine midfielder Tony Shields has been suspended by the club and placed on the transfer list for a breach of club discipline.
The 28-year-old failed to appear for duty ahead of last weekend's North-West derby against Institute which Coleraine won 2-1 at Ballycastle Road.
Shields recently scored a spectacular equaliser in his club's 1-1 draw with rivals Ballymena United.
Shields' former clubs include Omagh Town, Finn Harps and Derry City.
The decision came following a Showgrounds management committee meeting and was confirmed by manager David Platt.
He said: "I am disappointed by Tony's behaviour. I thought he had turned a corner after we had invested a lot of time on him in recent weeks."
Shields failed to show up for Saturday's Premiership clash forcing Platt to alter his selection plans close to kick-off and it is understood it was not the first time he has left the club in the lurch.
Kyle McVey was drafted into the starting line up as the Bannsiders secured a 2-1 win over their North West rivals.
The former Derry City and Finn Harps player, who also had spells with Aldershot and Peterborough United, now seems likely to leave the club once the transfer window re-opens in January after only five months with the Bannsiders.
Shields' imminent departure could pave the way for teenager Dave McClements to join the club.
The former Sheffield Wednesday apprentice has impressed in training over the last week and should sign for Coleraine once his registration has been sorted.
