Drogheda United v Glentoran

Daryl Fordyce of Glentoran

Midfielder Daryl Fordyce has his sights set on helping Glentoran emulate rivals Linfield in bringing the Setanta Cup north of the border.

It was the former Portsmouth man's goal against St Pat's which put the Glens through to a semi-final clash against holders Drogheda on Monday night.

Linfield won the cup in 2005 while the Glens are in their first semi-final.

"It would mean everything to Glentoran to win this cup but we know we will be the underdogs again," said Fordyce.

"The Eircom League clubs we have played in the competition have a lot of quality about them.

"If they played in our league there is no doubt they would be successful.

"We are going to give it our best shot, but we do not want to raise expectations too high at the moment.

"We did not put out our strongest team in some earlier games because we were going for the league.

"But we are looking for a spot in the final, that would be brilliant."

Drogheda have been hit by a financial crisis and are reported to be going part-time next year to cut the wage bill.

Glentoran go into the game boosted by going top of the JJB Premiership after Saturday's 1-0 home win over Institute.

Monday's match at United Park has a 2005 BST kick-off.
