Wales agree to Iceland friendly

Wales Wales will play Iceland in Reykjavik on Wednesday, 28 May, adding to their four other friendlies next year.

The venue and kick-off time have yet to be decided.

John Toshack's side will also play the Netherlands at Feyenoord's stadium in Rotterdam on 1 June, and visit Denmark on 19 November.

Norway are the visitors to Wales on 6 February and Georgia visit on 20 August, with a trip to Luxemburg in between on 26 March.

The Norway game will be staged at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground, but the venues have yet to be decided for the other matches.

Wales have played Iceland five times before, the last meeting a 1-0 home win in May 1991.

The match against the Dutch will be the first between the two sides since Wales lost 7-1 in a World Cup qualifier in 1996.

Wales will begin their 2010 World Cup qualifiers in early September, the fixtures for which will be announced on 10 January after a meeting between all the group rivals in Frankfurt.

Germany, Russia, Finland, Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein make up Wales' qualifying group, with only the group winner guaranteed a place at the finals in South Africa.

The best eight runners-up from the nine groups will play off for four more qualifying berths.
