Norway 0-1 Czech Republic
Former Liverpool midfielder Vladimir Smicer was the Czech Republic's hero as they beat Norway 1-0 in the first leg of their World Cup play-off.
The match also marked Czech star Pavel Nedved's international comeback.
Smicer rounded off a sweeping move by heading home a Karel Poborsky cross for the only goal of the game.
Norway managed only a few long-range shots and rarely threatened, leaving the Czechs in a strong position ahead of Wednesday's second leg in Prague.
