ENGLAND GOSSIP

New England boss Fabio Capello will earn £6m a year and his backroom staff will pick up £1m a year between them, meaning the cost of appointing the Italian and his team is a whopping £30m. (Daily Mail)

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid coach is set to pick up a £4.8m basic annual salary, with a further £2m coming his way if he wins the 2010 World Cup. (Mirror)

Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards has told the Football Association he is not happy with the appointment of Capello. Richards feels the FA has rushed into it. (Daily Mail)

Liverpool are set to scrap plans for a new £700m stadium because funding for it has been hit by the volatile financial credit markets. (Mirror)

Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson wants to sign Shakhtar Donetsk's £10m-rated Mexico striker Nery Castillo. (various)

Eriksson may also bid for Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka. (Mirror)

Belgium midfielder Thomas Buffel wants to leave Rangers in January if he remains out of the first-team picture at Ibrox. (Record)
