TRANSFER RUMOURS

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will try to sign Valencia striker David Villa for £22m in January to replace £30m flop Andriy Shevchenko. (The Sun)

Meanwhile, Shevchenko is spending his own cash on bringing a personal physiotherapist from Italy to solve his knee problem. (Daily Express).

Owen Hargreaves is now close to recovering from a broken leg and is ready to beg Bayern Munich to let him join Manchester United when the transfer window opens on 1 January. (The Times)

Manchester United are also watching Atletico Madrid's Fernando Torres, who would cost over £20m. (Daily Mail)

Manchester United are ready to make a £12m swoop for Tottenham's Jermain Defoe. (Daily Mirror)

David James says his new side-parting haircut, which cost £250, might be shaved off. "I went to a lady in Exeter who did a great job but after seeing it over the weekend I might shave it off."

Spurs' Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov is not concerned that the fans do not sing his name - because he says it's too much of a tongue-twister. "It's probably because my name is too difficult for them to fit into a song," said Berbatov. "Even when I played for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, the fans did not have a song for me."
