Wycombe and Brighton face a replay after a thriller featuring eight goals, three penalties and two red cards.
Elliott Bennett put Brighton ahead but Matt Harrold equalised with a penalty, and Albion's Gavin Hoyte saw red before Scott Davies rifled Wycombe in front.
Wycombe's Craig Woodman was then sent off for a professional foul and Nicky Forster made it 2-2 from the spot.
Glenn Murray put Albion ahead, Jon-Paul Pittman and Harrold made it 4-3 before Murray slotted home a late penalty.
Brighton caretaker manager Adam Hinshelwood told BBC Sussex:
"I felt the player's attitudes and commitment throughout the game was first class.
"We're disappointed very much with the goals we conceded, but that's the game. I think it was entertaining, and it's a fair result."
