League One side Exeter scored four first-half goals to kill off hopes of a Cup shock at Southern League Nuneaton.
Captain Matt Taylor opened the scoring from close range before Nuneaton's Chris Dillon had an effort disallowed.
Barry Corr doubled the lead from 25 yards before Exeter went further ahead with an own goal when a save rebounded off Guy Hadland and flew over the line.
Taylor was unmarked to head in Alex Russell's corner to make it 4-0 and wrap up a comfortable victory.
Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon:
"We started well and we did the basics very well which is what you have to do against teams at this level
"I'm really pleased with the performance, it was a difficult pitch to play on and the opposition were a good team.
"Sometimes on days like these you need to do the set-pieces very well, and actually we defended the set-pieces very well as well."
