Notts County scored either side of half time to ease past Bradford and into the second round of the FA Cup.
Karl Hawley gave the hosts a deserved lead in first-half injury time when his shot deflected off goalkeeper Simon Eastwood and into the bottom corner.
Johnnie Jackson doubled the advantage only 20 seconds after the restart after a fine one-two with Hawley.
Michael Boulding poked in from close range to set up a tense finish but the Bantams were unable to draw level.
Notts County manager Hans Backe told BBC Radio Nottingham:
"It was an opportunity to see some new faces and they really performed well.
"At 2-1 it was a bit edgy, we could've killed the game off earlier but their keeper made some good saves. Overall I think we deserved the win."
