Tudur Jones excited by Cup draw

Owain Tudur-Jones

Swansea midfielder Owain Tudur Jones is excited by the chance of creating an FA Cup upset if they get through to face holders Portsmouth in the fourth round.

Swansea must first beat Histon in their rearranged third-round tie but have been paired with Pompey or Championship rivals Bristol City in the next round.

"Either way it is a good draw for us," Tudur Jones told BBC Sport.

"The possibility of playing the cup holders or a fairly local derby in the next round is one to look forward to."

The Swans' third-round match with non-league Histon on Saturday was called-off just three-and-a-half hours before kick-off because of a frozen pitch.

The Championship side must travel to the Blue Square Premier side again on 13 January for the rescheduled tie.

Swansea's incentive is a trip to Premier League Portsmouth, who beat their arch rivals Cardiff City in last season's Wembley final, or just over the border to fellow Championship mid-table side Bristol City, and a reunion with former Swans fans' favourite Lee Trundle.

"I think we can be pretty pleased if we manage to get past Histon, as there's a good draw waiting for us," said Wales international Tudur Jones.

"It would have been preferable to have a home draw but who better to have than the current holders of the FA Cup?

"Either way it promises to be a pretty fierce game in an old fashioned-style stadium that is made for FA Cup occasions that would be rocking.

"That will be something to look forward to if we get past Histon and that is our main focus now as if we don't beat them, we won't be playing any of them."
