Redknapp hails Tottenham revival

Darren Bent celebrates after scoring against Dinamo Zagreb

Harry Redknapp hailed his rejuvenated Tottenham side after they thrashed Dinamo Zagreb 4-0 in the Uefa Cup.

Striker Darren Bent also maintained his good form with a hat-trick.

Manager Redknapp said: "It was a good night for us and we played some good stuff. Confidence is high after the way things have gone in the last 10 days.

"Since I arrived we have shown we have got great quality and can play. We passed the ball well, were comfortable in possession and looked solid."

Tom Huddlestone scored Spurs' other goal in an emphatic triumph that made it three wins and a draw since Redknapp took charge at White Hart Lane.

And Redknapp was delighted with the form of Bent, who had previously struggled to make an impact after his move from Charlton, with his treble taking his season's tally to nine goals.

"First time I've seen Bostock. Really like to see a longer stint in one of the cup games. Barcelona weren't shy to play Messi at a young age..."

"He's done well. This is the first time I've worked with him, he has a good attitude and works hard at his game," stated Redknapp.

"It's a terrific return, getting nine goals, and hopefully he can keep going. I think we have three strikers who can do the job. There's competition for places up front. Darren and Roman Pavlyuchenko are both scoring goals and Fraizer Campbell showed terrific enthusiasm when he came on."

Redknapp also believes his squad is getting stronger in other areas, particularly defence and added: "We had Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Dawson together in central defence in this match.

"We've got Ledley King to come back, we've got Vedran Corluka, we've got some good players. It's up to us now to produce some good performances and get ourselves up the league table first and foremost."

Redknapp also brought on John Bostock, a controversial capture from Crystal Palace, to make the 16-year-old Spurs' youngest player in a competitive game.

He said: "I thought 'let's get him on and see what he can do'. He's only a young boy with potential. I thought it was a good time to bring him in."

The veteran boss has also sparked summer signing Luka Modric into life after he initially struggled at Spurs, and he explained: "Modric is a fantastic footballer that you have to play.

"People thought he wouldn't be strong but he's stronger than I thought he was. He's not a weakling, he challenges for balls. He is a terrific player."
