Sevilla 2-0 Osasuna (agg 2-1)

Luis Fabiano celebrates scoring for Sevilla Defending champions Sevilla reached the Uefa Cup final after beating fellow Spaniards Osasuna.

Trailing 1-0 after the first leg, Sevilla levelled the tie when Luis Fabiano scored from close range.

Dominant throughout, Sevilla secured their final berth when Dirnei Renato, completely unmarked, superbly guided Daniel Alves' cross past Ricardo.

Pierre Webo missed the target from 15 yards and hit the post with a brilliant header for Osasuna.

Sevilla will meet Espanyol in the final in Glasgow on 16 May - in what will be an all-Spanish affair.

And it was Sevilla, in front of their passionate supporters, who made all the running after a slow start to the game.

The first half was sluggish, with Osasuna looking to defend their lead from the first leg.

Fabiano shot over for Sevilla before he put the home team ahead.

The striker jumped for a long ball forward and was the recipient of two lucky breaks before showing deft footwork to create space and then slip the ball past Ricardo from six yards.

Freddie Kanoute should have scored after 44 minutes when an Osasuna defender missed his clearance but his weak attempt was easily saved.

Sevilla, though, were excellent after the break, with Alves causing chaos down the right flank.

Duda, on as a first-half substitute for the injured Adriano, forced Ricardo into action with a series of free-kicks.

Kanoute forced a save, Renato went close and Fabiano headed wide as Sevilla took control.

And Renato scored the decisive goal after 53 minutes, his cushioned volley securing their passage to the final.

The only sour note for Sevilla was the booking received by defender Julien Escude, which means he will miss the final, and a suspected thigh muscle tear suffered by midfielder Adriano Correia.

  • Sevilla coach Juande Ramos:
"Getting to two consecutive finals is an achievement which is within reach of very few teams and we've done it.

"I hope we can play well and win the UEFA Cup again, that would cap everything."

  • Osasuna coach Jose Angel Ziganda:
"We had a dream for ourselves and our fans but we only reached as far as this.

"Until the goal we were relatively comfortable. Sevilla seemed anxious but we conceded the first goal too easily."
