Owen Hargreaves expects to hold talks with Bayern Munich about his future "within the next couple of weeks".
President Franz Beckenbauer says the club would "seriously consider" a bid of £17m to £20m for the 26-year-old.
"I'm sure I'll sit down in the next couple of weeks and we'll have a discussion," Hargreaves told BBC Sport.
"My job is as a footballer - the other stuff I don't control. I'll sit down with the club and these things will be discussed then, not out in the open."

United were reported to have bid £20m for Hargreaves in January, but Bayern refused to let them speak to the England international.
However, Beckenbauer's comments following Bayern's Champions League defeat by AC Milan on Wednesday suggested the club's stance has changed.
Hargreaves said: "Franz Beckenbauer is the president of the club and obviously takes a keen interest in the situation.
"It's not very often an offer of that magnitude (United's bid in January) comes about and that's why there's so much interest.
"But I have a job to do as a player. I have a game to play on Sunday (against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga) and that's where my focus is.
"All those other things will be discussed in the coming weeks. I've got to try to get Bayern into the Champions League, that's the most important thing for our club and what we'll strive to do.
"If I sit down with the club in a week or two, then that's what will happen. A lot of people have given their opinion on my situation."
Hargreaves said he did not want to speculate about his future because of his respect for Bayern.
"I have a lot of admiration for Bayern Munich - they've always been wonderful to me," he said.
"Manchester United and Bayern Munich are similar clubs, in that they're the biggest in their countries respectively.
"They've had a lot of success nationally and internationally over the past 10 or 20 years and have great traditions."
The central midfielder was out of action for almost five months after breaking his leg in September.
But he has returned to his best form in recent weeks and is almost certain to line up for England against Brazil on 1 June if he is fit.
He said: "It's great to be back. It was a very long lay off and I had a lot of things to deal with.
"It's nice to be back in the rhythm of playing and competing and playing in big games like Wednesday's match against Milan.
"I wish we had progressed and played Manchester United in the semis, but it wasn't to be."
