Argentine Roa out for two months

Carlos Roa
Carlos Roa, the Argentine goalkeeper who helped defeat England in the France 98 World Cup quarter-finals, will be sidelined for his Spanish club side Real Mallorca for at least two months.

Roa has not played since injuring himself in training at the start of October and, at the recommendation of doctors, will have surgery on his troublesome shoulder due to persistent problems.

Roa quit football shortly after the last World Cup due to his religious beliefs and is a Seventh Day Adventist which means that he does not play or train on Saturday's before sunset.

He returned to Real Mallorce at the start of this season and the absence of a goalkeeper who conceded 29 goals in 35 games in his first spell at the club when he helped the club to third in the 1998/99 Spanish Prmiera Liga season is likely to be a blow.
