London sides 'make Smertin offer'
Fulham and West Ham have offered former Russia captain Alexei Smertin a route back to the Premiership, according to the player's agent.
The 31-year-old, who left Dinamo Moscow last week, has previously played for Portsmouth, Charlton and Chelsea.
"Fulham are one of the clubs who want to sign Alexei and they have made him a firm offer," agent Paulo Barboza said.
"An offer from West Ham interested the player, but we don't want him to join another relegation candidate."
Barboza added: "Smertin has enough strength and experience to accomplish higher things. Plus we have more attractive offers.
"I think that in the coming days everything will be finalised. What remains is to settle a few matters regarding Alexei's move, including with his former club Dinamo Moscow."
