Barton & Konchesky lose appeals
The Football Association has rejected appeals against red cards from Manchester City's Joey Barton and West Ham defender Paul Konchesky.
Barton will serve a three-match ban after losing an appeal for wrongful dismissal in the 2-0 defeat against Bolton at Eastlands.
And Konchesky will serve a one-match suspension after receiving a red card late in the goalless draw at Fulham.
Their cases were both heard by the FA's disciplinary commission on Thursday.
At a hearing in London, it was decided referee Mike Riley had not acted incorrectly in dismissing Barton for serious foul play when he launched himself towards Abdoulaye Faye.
And it was also ruled Konchesky rightly received his marching orders for a second bookable offence when he chopped down Wayne Routledge, denying the Fulham forward a clear goalscoring opportunity
The City midfield man will miss Premiership encounters against West Ham and Everton as well as the FA Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday.
Konchesky is ruled out of the Premiership game against Manchester City.
City boss Stuart Pearce said after Barton's red card: "It was not a sending-off in my book. The most the tackle deserved was a yellow."
