Jol revels in victory over Blues

Tottenham manager Martin Jol Tottenham manager Martin Jol feels his side's first league victory over Chelsea in 16 years should act as a turning point for their season.

"We needed to win a top game," said Jol. "We tried to attack and be positive. It took 25 minutes to get going but after that we were terrific.

"It's a long time since we beat Chelsea and is something to be proud of.

"They said we'd never beaten a top side and that was a bit annoying but we did that. It was a great performance."

He added: "Robbie Keane was probably man of the match and Michael Dawson and Ledley King did ever so well but we had so many other players who did well.

"We woke up when they scored and we had nothing to lose.

"We said before the game we had to be brave and play with confidence - and we did that in the second half.

"Pascal Chimbonda was injured and really couldn't play on but I had no defenders, so he did. He was the best evidence of our spirit and character.

"I feel it has been a great week for the club, with us winning in the Uefa Cup and then beating the champions. It is a real achievement."
