Cardiff 4-0 Huddersfield

Cardiff kept up their pursuit of a promotion place with an emphatic 4-0 thrashing of Second Division strugglers Huddersfield on Sunday afternoon.

Two goals apiece from Robert Earnshaw and Jason Bowen gave high-flying Cardiff a comfortable win over bottom-of-the-table Huddersfield at Ninian Park.

The visitors were already two goals down when they had Danny Schofield sent off for a foul on man-of-the-match Bowen just before half-time.

Bowen opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he ghosted through the middle before planting a shot into the corner of the net.

Earnshaw added the second in the 44th minute when he was quickest to latch onto a long free-kick from goalkeeper Neil Alexander.

Despite facing 10 men in the second half, it took the Bluebirds until the 64th minute to stamp their authority on the game.

Bowen added to his first-half strike to score Cardiff's third with a cheeky backheel.

Earnshaw then completed his double in the 73rd minute when he raced on to a Willie Boland pass to fire home.

It was not vintage Cardiff, but the job was done against struggling opponents and the result takes them level on points with second-placed Bristol City.
