Oldham 1-2 Cardiff
Andy Campbell continued his liking for scoring against Oldham with Cardiff's opener in their win at Boundary Park.
Campbell scored a hat-trick last season as Cardiff inflicted Oldham's record home defeat and he struck again to put the Welsh side ahead.
A Graham Kavanagh corner on 21 minutes picked him out and he volleyed home from six yards out.
Cardiff put the game beyond Oldham's reach with six minutes left when visiting goalkeeper Les Pogliacomi dropped a Kavanagh cross under challenge from Gareth Whalley.
That left substitute Robert Earnshaw to clip the ball into an empty net.
The home side grabbed a consolation goal in injury time through substitute Lee Duxbury.
