Newcastle begin against West Brom

Newcastle begin life in the Championship with a trip to West Brom on the first day of the 2009-10 season.

Middlesbrough have been handed a tricky opener at home to Sheffield United and Leicester mark their return to the second tier by hosting Swansea.

Newly-promoted Peterborough travel to Derby and Scunthorpe are at Cardiff, while Reading face Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, new Blackpool manager Ian Holloway will travel to one of his old clubs, Queens Park Rangers.

Preston host Bristol City, Coventry play Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday face Barnsley while Watford welcome Doncaster and Plymouth visit Crystal Palace.
