Norwich 2-3 Nott'm Forest

Managerless Nottingham Forest moved out of the Championship's drop zone with victory against struggling Norwich.

Forest, who sacked Colin Calderwood on Boxing Day, went ahead when Matt Thornhill smashed in from 18 yards.

Lewis McGugan then scored a fabulous solo goal to make it 2-0, before Ian Breckin deflected into his own net after Gary Doherty hit the crossbar.

Rob Earnshaw made it 3-1 with a fine chip before Joe Garner's headed own goal made for a nervy last few moments.

Norwich manager Glenn Roeder told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"That's not us, we've played a lot better than that recently, even when we haven't picked up a result we've still played well and been the better team.

"Today I thought we were nowhere near playing as well as we can, consequently we've handed Forest a massive win here.

"I don't like to make excuses, but I think some of the players showed the affects of playing a couple of days ago, a little bit of tiredness, but I just didn't think we were really tuned in at the start of the game."

Nottingham Forest caretaker manager John Pemberton:
"The players were disappointed about what happened on Boxing Day (Colin Calderwood's sacking) but I didn't have to do a great deal.

"They did it themselves, they really wanted to do it today.

"We thoroughly deserved the win, the players dug in and fought when they had to. Obviously it's a massive boost for us being out of the bottom three."
