Doncaster 2-1 Burnley

Two goals in three first-half minutes earned struggling Doncaster a valuable victory over promotion-chasing Burnley.

The home side took the lead when Clarke Carlisle's mistake gave James Coppinger a simple tap-in in the 37th minute.

And Brian Stock doubled the lead from the penalty spot on 40 minutes after defender Steve Caldwell was sent off for bringing down Richie Wellens.

Burnley reduced the deficit to one goal on 62 minutes through Martin Paterson, but could not find the equaliser.

Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll:
"We started off the boil but we got better as the game went on and were a threat all afternoon. We did well and could have had more goals.

"They were still a threat when they were down to 10 men and I knew it wasn't going to be a rout.

"But it could have been all over much earlier if their goalkeeper had not made some good saves."

Burnley manager Owen Coyle:
"We shot ourselves in the foot and I can't stand by and let that happen.

"The first goal was self-inflicted and we just have to stop making silly mistakes and get back on track.

"Without being disrespectful to Barnsley or Doncaster, they were games we were looking to take points from."
