Barnsley 2-0 Plymouth

Barnsley secured their first Championship win in five matches against 10-man Plymouth.

Anderson De Silva made it 1-0 when he headed in Diego Leon's clipped free-kick for his first goal of the season.

Barnsley secured the victory in the last minute when Jamal Campbell-Ryce scored from the spot after David McNamee tripped Leon.

Plymouth went a man down early in the match when Simon Walton kicked out at De Silva in reaction to a challenge.

Barnsley boss Simon Davey:
"It was a hard-earned win and Plymouth made it hard for us although I thought we deserved it.

"I was disappointed in the first half, we did not pass the ball quickly enough.

"It has been a problem that we've not scored enough goals this season. We changed the system for this match and created a lot more. We scored two goals and could have had 22 - we have to learn to finish teams off."

Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock was furious with midfielder Simon Walton after he was sent off for violent conduct:
"You can train football teams, you can shape football teams, you can put them out and give them a gameplan.

"But when somebody does what he did in this game, all of a sudden the gameplan goes out the window.

"I'm proud of my players to be fair. In the second half we came out and gave it a go.

"It's hard enough winning football matches in this league with 11 men without having to play with 10 but to be fair they responded in the right way."
