Sheff Utd 3-0 Bristol City

James Beattie grabbed a goal in each half as Sheffield United beat Bristol City to secure a third straight win.

Beattie opened the scoring in first-half injury-time when he volleyed home from a David Cotterill corner.

The Blades doubled their lead when City's Liam Fontaine headed into his own net from a Stephen Quinn free-kick.

And Beattie made sure all three points would be staying on Yorkshire when he headed in his second of the game from another Cotterill corner.

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell on striker James Beattie's display:
"Beatts' first was absolutely superb. He showed what he can do if you give him the service.

"When you've got someone like that in your team, capable of putting them away like that, then it can make all the difference.

"It was a war of attrition in the first half and he broke it."

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson:
"We were second best. It was a poor performance.

"We know Sheffield United can put you under pressure, but we were okay for up to 40 minutes.

"It was three set-pieces they scored from. We knew they were quite strong at that and worked quite hard to try and alleviate the problem. We didn't."
