Ross McCormack's first strike for Cardiff City rescued the FA Cup finalists a point at Doncaster Rovers.
Lewis Guy had a chance saved by Tom Heaton in the first half, but the Doncaster striker's 67th-minute volley put the Championship new boys ahead.
He converted Matthew Mills' ball to score his second goal of the season.
But for the second time in successive weeks, Cardiff scored in the dying minutes as striker McCormack fired in Steve Thompson's knock-down.
Cardiff City manager Dave Jones:
"It looked like it would be a stalemate but the only time they play a 60-yard pass, it opened us up and they scored - we were disappointed in that.
"It was a sloppy goal to concede. Kevin McNaughton and Darren Purse were struggling at half-time, whether it was tiredness or injury, and they switched off a little bit and we'll look at that.
"But credit to our lads for keeping going. It is a tough place to come as they play good football. There was a lot of midfield possession for both teams but both lacked a cutting edge."
Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll:
"It was a disappointing mix-up for their goal, but it's pointless picking out someone to blame.
"What pleased me is that I thought we upped our game from last week's performance when we won at Derby.
"I thought there was a lot of hype after that match but we played a good passing side and matched them and that's the pleasing aspect from our point of view.
"I think our play probably deserved three points overall but it wasn't to be."
