Watford fought back from two goals down to salvage a draw away at fellow high-flyers Charlton and move level on points with Stoke City at the top.
Darren Ambrose's close range shot gave the home side the lead and a Danny Shittu own goal put Charlton 2-0 up.
But an inspired second-half showing from Watford saw John-Joe O'Toole pull one back from 12 yards.
And just a minute later Shittu rose unmarked to head home Mathew Sadler's corner to earn the Hornets a point.
Charlton boss Alan Pardew on referee Paul Taylor:
"The referee assisted them with some of his decisions, and he damaged us by blowing up on other occasions.
"We are playing catch-up in this division and it would have been huge for us to get three points today."
Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd on his half-time team-talk:
"Stoke fought back to beat Scunthorpe on Friday and they are top of the Championship table because they have scored one more goal than us.
"Promotion will be decided by such fine margins and I told the players someone would have to make the difference."
