Plymouth 1-2 West Brom
Roman Bednar scored twice on his full debut to move West Brom to within two points of Championship leaders Watford.
Bednar, who is on loan from Hearts, opened the scoring when he converted Zoltan Gera's cross from 12 yards.
Gera had a header cleared off the line before Bednar made it 2-0, finding space to head home Chris Brunt's pass.
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Barry Hayles wasted chances for the home side before substitute Jermaine Easter replied by volleying home a David Norris cross.
Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock:
"We had thoughtful words at half-time and what pleased me most was the players took it on board and acted on what had been said.
"When we squeezed it meant we could steal. We got our foot in and we also got our goal.
"I would think West Brom are nailed-on certainties to go up."
West Brom manager Tony Mowbray:
"Roman has had to be patient but has taken the opportunity and got two goals tonight.
"That's what he needed to do, and I have watched him in training and he proved it again tonight. He is a clinical finisher.
"It was important that we won again. It's important to keep winning."
