Wolves 0-1 Hull

Dean Windass's second-half penalty gave Hull their first league away win.

Veteran striker Windass, who was only on the field due a first-half injury to Caleb Folan, slotted home after Richard Garcia was fouled by Neill Collins.

Jay-Jay Okocha made his full debut for Hull and always looked dangerous, but Wolves will rue some poor finishing.

Striker Andy Keogh was particularly culpable, though Freddy Eastwood was unlucky when his stunning right-foot shot rattled the woodwork.

  • Wolves manager Mick McCarthy:
"Had we scored it completely changes the game. Unfortunately we didn't and they got the penalty.

"We can't keep giving away penalties - if we do, we won't win games.

"By the way they set up with 4-5-1 it's difficult to break down, but I thought we had two or three good chances we might have taken on another day."

  • Hull boss Phil Brown on Okocha:
"No disrespect to the players at the club, they'll not have sampled someone with the qualities of the man or the player.

"I think his qualities came through, but I don't want to single anyone out, it was a great team performance.

"Wolves threw everything at us and I was pleased with our mentality."
