Coventry 2-1 Preston

Michael Doyle scored the winner with a brilliant strike as Coventry came from behind to beat lowly Preston and move back to the top of the Championship.

Patrick Agyemang had scored Preston's first league goal of the season with a low finish after a poor clearance from keeper Dimi Konstantopoulos.

But with 10 minutes left Dele Adebola equalised with a superb turn and shot in the penalty area.

And Doyle ensured a happy ending for Coventry with his 25-yard effort.

  • Coventry manager Iain Dowie:
"I felt that it was a decent performance from us all game and that we deserved to win.

"We created some good chances and played with good width and delivery into the box.

"It says something about the spirit of the players that we came back from a goal down and we have also have some characters to come back."

  • Preston manager Paul Simpson:
"I am gutted and massively disappointed with the result but pleased with the level of the performance.

"But you are judged on results and there are a lot of disappointed players in there.

"We have a two-week break now to get as many things as possible addressed."
