Charles rues 'schoolboy errors'

Gainsborough Trinity manager Steve Charles says "schoolboy errors" led to their 4-3 defeat at home by Fleetwood Town in Blue Square North on Saturday.

Fleetwood's Kevin Leadbetter scored a hat-trick after Andrew Bell's opener, with Simon Bird, Lewis McMahon and Gareth Davies on target for Trinity.

Charles told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I'm annoyed with some of the goals we conceded, it was basic schoolboy stuff.

"In the middle and the back a lot of them have got a lot to answer for."

The visitors led at the interval after Leadbetter set up Bell in the 21st minute, but Trinity levelled six minutes into the second half through Bird's scrambled effort, before he set up McMahon to put the hosts on front at the Northolme.

A flurry of four goals in 10 minutes saw Leadbetter strike in the 73rd and 76th minute to restore Fleetwood's lead.

Davies equalised in the 82nd minute with his first goal for Trinity, Leadbetter completed his hat-trick seconds later after goalkeeper Adam Sollitt misjudged the flight of the ball in the blustery conditions.

Charles said: "So many things went wrong today, particularly from the back nine.

"When you start gifting goals like we have done, you haven't got much chance in this division."
